I recall when I was young; during school holidays my mum had asked me to wash dishes. While in the process I broke a glass. I was in shock when that happened at first because the sound of the broken glass was loud. two because I feared what my mum was going to say after finding out what I had done.
I know we are all aware that once a glass is broken you can’t fix the broken pieces together.
At times in life like that piece of broken glass, we go through seasons that leave us broken. For instance, if we have family struggles, if a friend does something hurtful towards us or even losing employment can result in a broken situation.
Broken is defined as being smashed, shattered or burst. It also means having given up hope or despairing.
I know we can all identify with the words that describe a broken condition. Apart from what I had previously mentioned at first as situation’s that lead to a brokenness. As believers in the Lord Jesus sin can also lead us into brokenness. When we live a life contrary to the will of God by sinning; then we face situations that break us.
If we don’t repent we stay in the mucky situation and fall into oblivion; physically alive but very dead in the inside. In the book of Psalms 34:18 we are reminded that,
‘The Lord is near to those who have broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite Spirit.”
Psalms 147: 3 “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
I love Isaiah 61:1
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.”
Are you broken today because of sin and the situations you are facing in life? The says he is near those who have a broken heart. That he heals and binds up the wounds…and Christ came to heal your broken condition.
Come unto him as you are he will heal you. Amen
