THE JOURNEY: WHY CELEBRATE

We are just from celebrating the Easter holiday; it’s one of those holidays I look forward to because it reminds us, those who believe in Christ how we were able to obtain our salvation. Plus, if you love to sleep and catch up with family and friends as I do, then it’s also an opportune moment.

We are just from celebrating the Easter holiday; it’s one of those holidays I look forward to because it reminds us,those who believe in Christ how we were able to obtain our salvation. Plus, if you love to sleep and catch up with family and friends as I do, then it’s also an opportune moment.

I took advantage of the holiday to go to the salon and do my hair; while there a gentleman walked in to say hi to my salonist.

Then he started a conversation and asked if we are celebrating Easter because Christ is risen. While this conversation was going on, it got me thinking,

'Who are we celebrating?'

I would like to share who Jesus Christ says he is, as written in the book of John. John chapter 6 vs 48 and 50 it say,

I am the bread of life and your father’s ate the manna in the wilderness and are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die’.

Every day we live we should yearn to partake of this bread of life. I imagine being hungry and not being able to eat; we literally can’t function well. it’s my prayer that you will partake of this bread of life.

John chapter 8 vs 12 says then Jesus spoke to them again saying; I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life’. There days in our lives when we feel like we are surrounded by darkness; the good news is that Christ came so that we may no longer walk in darkness but dwell in his light.

John chapter 10 vs 11 and 14 talks about Christ being the good shepherd.

Vs 11 : I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives life for his sheep’.

Vs 14 :I am the good shepherd; and I know my sheep and am known by my own’.

Christ as the good shepherd died for us; gave his life for us. If we are indeed his then let’s rejoice in the fact that he knows us.

We shall all face the physical death, it’s a road we shall all pass. The difference comes with **choosing to believe or not to believe in Jesus Christ.**If you believe in him then there’s an assurance that though you die you shall live. Eternity will be your portion.

John chapter 14:6 Jesus said to him. I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.

It’s important to note that we can’t have a relationship with the heavenly father without finding the way of accessing him that comes from knowing the truth of who Christ is.

If you have accepted Christ in your life; has the truth of who he is manifested in your life? Is he your bread of life? The light that shines in your life? The good shepherd? the resurrection and the life? Do you know him as the way, the truth and the life? Even as he reconciles you to the father?

If you have not accepted Jesus Christ in your life, it’s my prayer that you will. That he may become the bread of life, the light, the good shepherd, the resurrection and the life and the way the truth and life. He is the reason for the season. If we celebrated Easter and were not aware of whom we were celebration and why we were celebrating, Then we were on any other holiday season.
