Listening apart but with a shared Life Transformation

Trans World Radio Kenya broadcasts could be dating back to as early as 1980’s but the impact it had on people’s lives in the past, is still present as testified by these two listeners who listened and continue listen to the programs miles apart but share a similar life transformation from the broadcasts.

One on 1 with Dickson

Tell us about yourselfMy name is Dickson Gitau from Murang’a, am 30 years old, Youth Pastor & a husband.

How did you know about Trans World Radio KenyaWell I started listening to the programs when I was still in Primary school, those days we all tuned to the National broadcaster as there were not so many stations and as I tuned realized most of my favorites programs were all from Trans Word Radio Kenya I still remember programs like Watoto wa Sifu (Children of Praise) Asali Iuayo (Honey That kills) then as later on Neno came with the bible teachings and right now I listen to Rugendo (Thru The Bible in Kikuyu).

Has Trans World Kenya played any role in your life? TWR Kenya programs have played a big role in my life, through the programs I was led to Christ and later on I became a Sunday school teacher and now am a Youth pastor at Throne of Grace worship Church. Other than helping me grow spiritually through the devotional programs, I have gained a lot through their developmental programs, there used to be this program on HIV & AIDS called the Honey that Kills & I like the way the presenter deeply tackled this topic on AIDS and I was later motivated and enrolled for a certificate in HIV & AIDS now I have a diploma thanks to ‘’The Honey that kills”.

What can you say about The Programs Presentation?Wow, I like the unique and professional way Trans World radio do present their programs, they clearly understand the audience need for example Pastor James of Rugendo (Thru The Bible Gikuyu) takes you through the bible with a step by step in-depth analysis like one day the sermon was based on Why Jesus is referred to as the Son of Adam and the Son of God & I clearly understood the difference. I have listened to Pastor for more than 3 years now & my wife also fell in love with program and she hardly misses it and incase I miss she can clearly share it.

Any Message for TWR Kenya as they celebrate 40 Years of Ministry- It gives me joy today that I have met The Honey that Kills presenter and Pastor James and am happier to hear that you are celebrating 40 years. I would like to wish you God’s blessings in your work. You have touched many lives and am sure if all the listeners would get an opportunity to come and say thank you, you will be overwhelmed. Thanks also for the work you do online as I was able to get your contacts. Most importantly thank you the Bible and Spiritual books you have given me.

Tell us about yourselfMy name is Bernard Mwangi from Kikuyu am 38 years old, a motivational speaker, journalist preacher, married and a father.

How did you know about Trans World Radio Kenya? Thank you Wow!! It is through their broadcasts that I came to know about Christ and gave my life to Christ, I remember more than 20 years ago I was listening to NENO (Thru The Bible Swahili) and the preacher Pastor Githombe Maina was speaking about death and going to hell if you are not saved, I used to be scared of death & that sermon led me to Christ.

What happened next? After I gave my life to Christ, I have keenly followed every TWR programs on the National broadcaster & they have helped me grow spiritually. I am happy that Trans World radio Kenya again introduced Thru The Bible in my dialect – Gikuyu. I am now a listener of Rugendo but my wife is greater listener, I may have influenced her. I think the message sinks in very clearly when delivered in your dialect.

Has Trans World Kenya played any role in your profession? TWR Kenya other than leading me to Christ through their programs, they also led me to develop interest in understanding the Bible and be a journalist thus I hold a diplomas in Theology and Journalism. Yes that means I can now share the gospel on Radio & Tv. Thanks to TWR Kenya influence, am now presenter for a new TV station.

Any Message for TWR Kenya as they celebrate 40 Years of Ministry ? I would like to say thank you and to wish you God’s blessings for the good work you are doing. I am sure many lives have been transformed & if given the opportunity they would come to say thank you. Thank you for allowing me to finally meet the faces behind the voices after along search and wait for your contact.
